About

Born in Ankara in 2003, İdil Arıcan began her musical education in 2010 at the Bilkent University Faculty of Music and Performing Arts, in the Music Preparatory Primary School, studying violin with Süreyya Defne. Throughout her studies, she has participated in masterclasses with distinguished violinists such as Ray Chen, Marc Danel, Andrej Bielow, Lukas David, Eva Diller Dörnenburg, Pelin Halkacı Akın, and Domenico Nordio.

In 2017, İdil took part in the premiere performance of Yürüyen Köşk, composed by Fazıl Say. She won second prize at the 6th International Josef Micka Violin Competition in Prague in 2018, and in 2019, İş Sanat choose her as a Shining Star and she gave a solo recital at the Milli Reasürans Concert Hall. That same year, she was awarded the Ahmed Adnan Saygun Scholarship by Bilkent University, which enabled her to participate in the 61st International Kocian Violin Festival in the Czech Republic.

As a member of the AGSO Quartet, İdil performed Spohr’s Concerto for String Quartet with the Ankara Youth Symphony Orchestra conducted by Barış Demirezer. She has also performed Sibelius’s Violin Concerto with the Bilkent Symphony Orchestra under Murat Göktaş, and Vivaldi’s Concerto for Four Violins under Gürer Aykal.

In 2023, she was accepted to Royal College of Music and continued her studies in London, working with Madeleine Mitchell, Gaby Lester, Yuri Zhislin, Walter Reiter, Gemma Rosefield, Jessie Ann Richardson and Michael Trainor. Performed with Vasily Petrenko, Martyn Brabbins, Rafael Payare, Joana Carneiro, William Dutton ve Jonathan Morton.

Currently, İdil Arıcan continues her violin studies with Süreyya Defne. In addition to her solo performances, she is actively involved in ensemble leadership, chamber music, and baroque performance practices.
