Born in Ankara in 2003, İdil Arıcan began her musical studies at Bilkent University’s Faculty of Music and Performing Arts in the Music Preparatory Primary School, studying violin under Süreyya Defne. Over the years, she has participated in masterclasses with esteemed violinists, including Ray Chen, Andrej Bielow, Lukas David, Eva Diller Dörnenburg, Pelin Halkacı Akın, and Domenico Nordio.
In 2017, İdil performed in the premiere of Yürüyen Köşk, composed by Fazıl Say. She earned second prize at the 6th International Josef Micka Violin Competition in Prague in 2018, and in 2019, she performed a solo recital at the Milli Reasürans Concert Hall as part of İş Sanat’s Shining Stars series. That same year, she was awarded the Ahmed Adnan Saygun Scholarship by Bilkent University, which enabled her participation in the 61st International Kocian Violin Festival in the Czech Republic. İdil also performed Spohr’s Concerto for String Quartet with her string quartet, AGSO Quartet, accompanied by the Ankara Youth Symphony Orchestra under Barış Demirezer.
Her 2022 performances include Vivaldi’s Concerto for Four Violins with the Bilkent Symphony Orchestra under Gürer Aykal and the Sibelius Violin Concerto under Murat Göktaş. She also appeared at the 6th Bilkent Music Days and Switzerland’s Murten Music Festival.
Currently, İdil Arıcan is pursuing her studies with Madeleine Mitchell at the Royal College of Music. Besides her solo performances, İdil Arıcan is also engaged in ensemble leadership, chamber music, and baroque music studies.
